Dr. Bruce Coen
Dr. Coen is a native of Creston, Iowa. He attended Southwestern Community College in Creston, where he completed his undergraduate requirements. Dr. Coen received his doctorate degree from Illinois College of Optometry in 1977. He began private practice in Chicago, Illinois and then Indianola, Iowa, prior to joining Helena Vision Center in 1981. Dr. Coen is a member of the Montana and American Optometric Associations. He has served as president of the Montana Optometric Association and was named Montana Optometrist of the Year in 1987.
Dr. Coen is an active member of the Helena Lions Club, the Capital City Optimist Club, and is a past member of the board of directors of Big Brothers and Big Sisters. He enjoys hiking, golf, skiing and following local sporting events. Dr. Coen is married to Dr. Diane Gray and they have three adult children and one granddaughter.
Dr. Diane Gray
Dr. Diane Gray is very happy to be practicing optometry in her hometown of Helena. She graduated from Helena High School, attended undergraduate at Montana State University, and obtained her doctorate degree with honors at Illinois College of Optometry in 1978.
Dr. Gray has been in practice at Helena Vision Center with her husband, Dr. Bruce Coen since 1981. For several years she was the only woman practicing optometry in the state. In 1997, she became the first woman to serve as president of the Montana Optometric Association. Dr. Gray is a member of both the Montana and American Optometric Associations. She enjoys all aspects of family eye care.
Dr. Gray is an active hiker, enjoying the local trails with her girl friends. She also enjoys downhill skiing, quilting, traveling, and reading. She and her husband have three grown children, all of whom live in Helena.
Dr. Nicole Henriksen
Dr. Nicole Henriksen joined Helena Vision Center in August, and grew up on her family ranch in central South Dakota. She attended Black Hills State University, where she played basketball for the Lady Yellowjackets. In May 2010, she graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry, where she received several awards for leadership and clinical excellence. Recently, Dr. Henriksen was featured in Vision Monday and Women in Optometry magazines. She is a member of the Montana and American Optometric Associations, and is an InfantSee provider, providing comprehensive exams to infants at no charge.
In her spare time, she enjoys fishing, camping, and being with her family. She also enjoys traveling and has done mission work in Chile and Uganda. Dr. Henriksen has wanted to move back to this area for many years, and is very excited to be able to join the Helena community.
